Well, sadly, more ugly details are emerging from the Chris Brown, Rihanna scandal. It’s being reported that he essentially “went off” on her, allegedly punching her in the face leaving two massive contusions on both sides of her forehead, a split lip and busted, bloody nose. He even allegedly bit the girl!
Apparently, if the more scandalous news outlets are to be believed, this attack grew out of a bitter argument the two singers were having over Brown’s belief that Rihanna infected him with an incurable, sexually transmitted disease – Herpes. This doesn’t excuse Chris Brown’s behavior of course, but again, it does make the discussion more complicated.
Perhaps this tragic and ugly episode will help begin a conversation in our community regarding the vicious STD epidemic ravishing our young girls. Federal health officials, in a study completed last year, found that,
Nearly half the African-Americans in the study of teenagers ages 14 to 19 were infected with at least one of the diseases monitored in the study — human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia, genital herpes and trichomoniasis, a common parasite.
The 50 percent figure compared with 20 percent of white teenagers, health officials and researchers said at a news conference at a scientific meeting in Chicago.
These are very disquieting figures. This issue can no longer remain a taboo in the African-American Community, it’s a public health catastrophe that must be tackled immediately. I just feel terrible that two talented young people had to confront the emotional complexities of this epidemic in the public eye. But let me reiterate, it does not excuse Brown’s appalling behavior.

This post is not dumb. Unfortunately many of our beautiful black girls are misguided by the likes of Beyoncé and soft porn on television. YOu know shake what your mama gave ya! Seriously, many of these precious young girls are seeking to fill the void left by absentee fathers, thus easily manipulated into sex by predators.
Finesse, do you realize 85 percent of the black girls attending Eastern High school in the nations capitol (Washington, DC) have HIV/AIDS and/or are pregnant!? We need more programs to instill a sense of self-worth to our girls. It still takes a village to raise a child!

Really? 85 percent is pregnant or have HIV/AIDS?
Any educated African-American knows that they way they calculate stats in this country is not right at all, especially towards minorities.
For example. Arabs are considered white, is this true? So, when they do stats they will say “whites” are the majority. Do you know that Muslims in general have more children than the non-Muslims. If you think the average Arab women in America will have at least 4 or 5 children, and you classify her children also as white. This is incorrect data. They are not white. There-fore the “so called whites” will always be a “majority” so please with this post isnt dumb.
My aunts husband who is “black Nubian Egyptian” is considered “white” so again this post is dumb, and any African-American that post these worthless stats are dumb also.
How can you help the man to spread erronous sterotypes about your own people.
The only programs you Muslims need to start with is “The Quran” and “The sunnah” and stop being wimps, and talk to your children at home first. What is a program you speak of? Why didn’t our grandparents have these “programs” and still turned out fine, and our parents turned out fine. It was discipline in the home. It was community and church members being able to discipline children when they got out of line. Firstly, it the parents who would teach the fear of Allah(swt) to their children at an early age.
Since, the 80’s people have been following white America with these programs, and has made matters worst.
60’s on resources, no programs, and a father or man could be a man, and whoop his son butt when he got out of line. With the 80’s and programs, no discipline, children not fearing their parents; but the parents fearing them and 911. When I mean “whoop” I don’t mean “abusing” them, and its haraam for a Muslim to hit in the face.
