Spielberg Announces MLK Movie on Malcolm X’s Birthday. Coincidence? Who Will Play Dr. King?

Dr. Martin Luther King

Movie producer Steven Spielberg  chose today, May 19th, the birthday of Malcolm X, to announce the production of his  big screen bio-pic on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. Was this a coincidence? I tend to think so, for in the age of Obama, Malcolm’s stock is quite low. But what do you think? Who will play Dr. King? I’m thinking Jamie Foxx.

Over 40 years after Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on a motel balcony in Memphis, Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks are getting set to produce a big screen biopic about the civil-rights leader’s life, according to Variety.

To move forward with the picture, DreamWorks had to acquire King’s life rights from his estate, because his speeches, books and other works were copyrighted while he was alive. The deal marks the first time that a film has been authorized by the estate. The film’s producers will be able to utilize all of King’s intellectual property, including his legendary “I Have a Dream” speech delivered at the August 1963 march on Washington and his final public address, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop,” delivered the day before he died.

ARM, how could you be so naive? Speilberg is a Jew and is trying to draw attention away from Malcolm X with this.

      @ Mustafaa
Why in the world would Speilberg be trying to draw attention away from Malcolm X? We already have taken the attention away from Malcolm X and Dr. King by not recognizing what these great men represented and trying to continue that legacy.

    @ the young Muslim American

MLK has a day dedicated to him and Spielberg is doing a movie about him in order to take away from Malcolm X and the Muslims in the country. It is obvious what is going on

Mustafaa, the last time muslims put forth this ridiclous type of thinking Ceorge W. Bush end up being the president.Remember Sami Arian who later went to jail and other muslim leaders were some of his, biggest supporters.By the way most of us muslims refuse to engage in any struggle that these two leaders put their lives on the line for.We don’t have to worry about Spiellberg doing away with the legacy of MalcolmX we muslims already are doing a good job at it.What I means is that we have decided to act as though just because were muslims now the issues in our community no longer concern us.May Allah help us and give us right balance perspective.Islam is supose to awaken not put asleep.BAM we must get busy again in our communties. Also muslims in general must speak out and be in the forefront of activism. From racism, labor, hunger, military indusrty complex, prision reform, environmemt, ecolgly and the list goes on.Muhammad Iqbal once said When I proclaim that I am a Muslim,I shudder For I am cognizant of the demands of faith.I took this from Dr.Israr Ahmad booklet Obligations to God a comprehensive Islamic view.

    Kwame

I don’t understand what you are saying. You agree with me or not? I am saying that there is no way that the Jews would so happen to announce an MLK film on Malcolm’s birthday. It is obvious what is going on here and htey intinded to insult the memory of Malcolm
