    Dar-ul-Islam / Iqaamatiddeen

Sh. Abdullah Hakim Quick has an interesting commentary on the famous hadith narrated by Thawbaan (ra) and is related to the Iraqi occupation by US forces, it goes as follows:

“The nations are about to call one another and descend upon you just as those who are eating invite others in sharing their food. Someone asked, “Will that be because we are few in number at that time?” He answered, “ No, at that time you will be numerous. But you will be froth/scum carried by the torrent. Allah will remove the fear of you from the hearts of your enemies and will put a weakness into your hearts”. Then someone asked, “What is that weakness?” He replied, “Love of the world and hatred of death.” (Reported in Aboo Dawood and he said that it is authentic – Hasan – Saheeh).”

    Commentary:

The armies of the Western world and their allies are again pouring into the Middle East and surrounding the heartlands of Islam. Thousands of children have died in Iraq as a result of unjust sanctions. False justifications of fighting “terror”, or disarming governments which were created and armed by the same Western powers, are being used as a means of destroying the next generation of Muslim youth.

Where are the Muslim leaders and their huge armies? What has happened to the billions of dollars spent to prepare their own military defence systems? Surely the Prophet Muhammad(saw) did not speak from himself. Allah (swt)gave him a vision of the events of our times. Muslims are increasing in numbers throughout the world. Our masaajid and Islamic centres overflow on special occasions. Millions make earnest supplications on the Hajj, asking the Creator to lift this oppression from our backs and bring back the dignity and security of the past.

Something fundamental has to change in the essence of our Islam. The Messenger of Allah (saw) and his Companions did not have the support of millions of people or fabulous oil and mineral wealth, but Allah (swt) gave them authority in the land. They feared Him alone, and were not tied to the material world. They longed to meet their Lord and did not see death as an end but as a door leading to a better existence.

The time has come for Muslims to re-examine their relationship with the Creator and bring out the real Islamic personality that can transform a puppet, despotic ruler into a noble servant of humanity or a weak, humiliated Muslim into a mighty defender of Truth.

  2. IBN ABDUL HAQQ says:

Peace be upon all who follow right guidance. I AM NOT AN ALIM OR A SCHOLOAR, JUST A LITTLE COUNTRY IMAM. HERE ARE A FEW THOUGHTS.

Would that there had been more people with a vestige
of good among the generations of those who came before you,
who forbade corruption in the land, other than the few among them
whom We saved. Those who did wrong gladly pursued the life of luxury
that they were given and were evildoers.
    (Surah Hud: 116)

Today, all Muslims should show the same eager determination to adhere to and spread the Qur’an’s moral teachings. Their difficulties should not cause them to despair; rather, they must resolve to earn the reward offered by these valuable moments in a spirit of unity and self-sacrifice. Worldly preoccupations and personal interests should never stand in the way of living by this morality, for in the Hereafter each person will be called to account for whatever good and bad deeds he or she has done.

Throughout history, there have been interest groups uniting in oppression, unfairness and injustice thereby causing great suffering to people. These groups have done their best to spread immorality and denial in their own era. In this verse of the Qur’an, God reveals that they have existed throughout history:

Those who prefer the life of this world to the hereafter, and bar access to the way of Allah, wanting to make it crooked; they are greatly misguided. (Qur’an, 14: 3)

Every person who lives according to religious morality has an important role to play. All defenders of goodness and virtue must respect and support one another with a solidarity that is superior to that of the party of shaitan which is based on evil. The spread of immorality causes a rot that engulfs the whole of society. This rot will eventually cause serious harm. Therefore, it is necessary to collaborate in the ideological struggle against this danger. Allah(S.W.T)reveals the need for the alliance of the good in the following verse:

Those who disbelieve are the friends and protectors of one another. If you do not act in this way (protect each other) there will be turmoil in the land and great corruption. (Qur’an, 8: 73)

As Allah says in this verse, if sincere and honest people do not act in unity and strive on every front, this world will become a place in which life is unbearable and where everybody will suffer.

To my dear and respected brothers KWAME and Sh. Mahmoud and
others may our LORD fill your life and grave with his light. To my dear
brother Abdur Rahman may ALLAH reward your efforts on this blog.
