Minister Larry 4X Prescott

Minister Larry 4X Prescott

Long time readers of this blog will remember that one of my earliest entries concerned the presence of Larry 4X Prescott (Akbar Muhammad) at MANA‘s first convention in November of 2007. He was included in the program to deliver a passionate speech defending convicted cop killer Jamil Alamin. At the time, my outrage was directed at according heretics respectability at ostensibly “Sunni” events. In later comments I called him an “aqeedah criminal”. Thanks to these decisions of allowing heretics to share the stage with Muslim Imams, the N.O.I has now achieved mainstream acceptance among younger Muslims who no longer see them as outside the fold of Islam. MANA’s choosing to allow Minister Larry 4X a spot at the MANA convention was almost exclusively Siraj Wahhaj’s, and it is with him that I lay the blame. Mainstreaming the N.O.I will undoubtedly be one of the sad chapters in his legacy.

However as it turns out, our friend Larry is not only an “aqeedah criminal”, but is also now a convicted felon who plead guilty last week to bank fraud to the tune of $323,000! The guy was using his “Muslim names” to get mortgages without disclosing he had others. What makes Larry’s crime all the more appalling is the fact that he held a number of “fund raisers” (are you all starting to get the picture) in different cities in support of his legal defense fund knowing full well that he was guilty!

The Fall of Larry 4X

For those who may not be familiar with the career of Larry 4x, it is worth noting that he was a major figure in the so-called Nation of Islam and was Minister Louis Farrakhan’s right-hand man for decades. He joined the organization in 1960 in New York under the leadership of Malcolm X and witnessed (and participated in) some of its most important history. As one example, Larry was present when Malcolm made the famous “chickens coming home to roost” speech at the Manhattan Center in 1963. He later worked tirelessly as a personal assistant to Farrakhan during the seventies in his efforts to rehabilitate the N.O.I’s reputation following the assassination of Malcolm X.

Once Farrakhan left W.D. Mohammed in 1977, Larry stood by his side in rebuilding Elijah Muhammad’s old organization and teachings. I remember Larry 4X vividly during the 1980’s because he was always opening up for Louis Farrakhan. In fact, I attended Howard University with one of his daughters. Somehow or another he became the N.O.I’s “man in Africa”, and lived on the continent for quite a number of years. He has traveled around the world as a top official for the group, reportedly visiting over 150 counties.

However in recent years things have soured between him and the Minister. Siraj Wahhaj shared with me (when we were still speaking) that Larry started “taking other wives” while he was in Africa and siring children by them (he is 66 years old). In pursuing this course he only claimed to be following  his leader, Farrakhan (76), who announced to his flock about five years ago that he himself has three wives (and about 12 children from two of them in addition to the nine by his real wife). However Farrakhan was livid about what Larry did, claiming that like Elijah himself, concubines were his exclusive right and unceremoniously sacked him. This made Larry in his old age a vagabond in the earth, whose been showing up at W.D. Masjids (I’ve seen him in DC all the time) pitifully trying to sell his old tapes. Its sad, really sad. Now he’s going to the clink for a couple of years, man oh man. It seems that Farrakhan has taken some pity on him by helping him “raise funds”.

I would not have even mentioned this criminal were it not for the fact of his being paraded before the Muslims as some type of authority figure. Usually I only discuss the N.O.I. in a historical sense on this blog, but this is just another example of the deeply entrenched criminal culture among Muslims.

{shaking my head in disgust} This zeal to acquire a harem of (concubines/female groupies) one’s own seems to be a motivating factor for most of our leaders and/or self-proclaimed activists.

    {long sigh}

    • B. Abdul-Kareem says:

Defend properly by posting the opinions directly from the purported concubines. If you or anyone else cannot evidence a human being concubine, then you have joined the opinioned ranks of those who like to peek into others bedroom windows. Is all fantastic inside your bedroom window? If so, then you certainly don’t have time to add opinion to this foolishness. If Min. Akbar erred in making sound judgment in his social or consumer affairs, there exist no injured or damaged parties other than himself. Even a Doctor needs a Doctor at some point. While you are condemming Min. Akbar, America still doesn’t respect “You”. Tell us five things that you know is not good about you so the viewers here can offer an opinion. Yes, we can have an “Opinion Party”. Ok, just disclose “One thing” without hesitation.

  2. Dawud Adib says:

The NOI’s aqeedah is wild and crazy. Alhamdulillah that I am upon the haqq

    Sincerely
    Aboo Tasneem

  3. mrleexslave says:

You are doing an excellent job Akee. Keep attacking the only group in AmeriKKKa that is making Muslims. You will put the Crusaders out of business you JINN!!!!!!!!

  4. Aboo Abdillaah U says:

    @ mrleexslave

The NOI are NOT Muslims. You all believe that a filthy little man that was having sex with his secretaries was a “Messenger”

May Allaah’s curse be upon you all’s group until the Day of Judgement. Your group is shrinking by the day

    • Hann says:

And Muhammad of Arabia had alot of women to buddy. The one Named Aisha was a pre-teen. What do you so called real muslims have to say about that. Who certified muhammad to have these extra maratial relationships. Just because some one does something diffirent from the norm does not make them unreal. Get out the box. Akbar Muhammad like most men are human. He has served a lot of other good causes. Short to say quit upsetting yourself by giving leaders christ status. No one is 100% good or 100% bad. Loosen up you nut!

  5. mrleexslave says:

Who made you the authority onn who is or is Muslim? I have been a Muslim for close to thirty years undedr the Teachings of the Most Hon Elijah Muhammad, I have dealt with your type that long we do not care whether you slaves of Arabia accept Us or not We believe in Allah and all the Prophets and Messengers He has sent. We do not waste time trying to figure who is or is not a Muslim, keep on hating while We continue to bring Allah’s message to the people. If you have any Black friends who happen to be Muslim I bet you that the Nation Of Islam had some part in their conversion. How many souls are on your resume? You should get away from whomever or what ever is filling you with such hate . What have We done to you ?

  6. Hamid says:

    Bismillah..

It’s interesting and even telling that one who claims to be muslim (Aboo Abdillaah U) would use the same slanderous references; “a filthy little man” that were used by the enemies of Islam with respect to the domestic life of Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him).

I have found that many of those most zealous and pseudo pious individuals who rant against those whom they consider to be in deviation are usually those most shallow in their studies and even ignorant of the life of the Prophet and his life during the early establishment of Islam.

For those muslims who READ (Holy Qur’an 96, Al-‘Alaq), see more on this subject in Al-Ahzab: The Allies, Surah 33.

  7. Hamid says:

    Bismillah,

One additional point, if it is Allah’s Will that Akbar Muhammad will serve any time, I ask that Allah grants him purification through trial (Surah 2:153) and guidance to emerge with an even stronger spirit to continue his work . If history is any lesson with respect to NOI’s work in American prisons, Akbar will be at home among his brothers as a teacher and guide.

  8. Aboo Abdillaah U says:

    @ Hamid

How DARE YOU compare the BEST of creation to that filthy little turtle of a man who FALSELY claimed Messengership for himself?

    • james muhammad says:

ASA,if your born in America you know the work of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad and Louis Farrakhan they have done more in America for Blacks than any of these Imams sent here or developed,So stop slandering like a Devil,Nobody came after the BLACK man in America, except for Noble Drew ALI!!! the so -called Musilms with their dress and prayer beads are ritualistic cowards, who teach a so-called pure Islam until USA and Britain call!!! Allah DID’nt wan’t us to follow that deviation going on in our Muslim world!!!! Bro.Akbar is great example for International affairs,he did wrong and confessed who the hell are you to eat a brother’s flesh, like you have no sin!!!! jealous, bitter cowards who can’t draw flies in arena if they were manure!!!

      • Greg says:

        James Muhammad,
Brother, let me tell you this: I stayed at Akbar Muhammad’s house in Ghana. I was a guest of this man for several days and I thanked him. My brother, David E. Harmon, MDJD was Muhammad’s ‘live-in’ doctor from time to time. Muhammad was one of the first people I called when, while Muhammad was here in the States, my brother was killed in Ghana. I personally didn’t care for Muhammad, but he and the NOI had helped my brother when he had strayed. Against my wishes my older brother enlisted Muhammad to deliver a eulogy. This man, Muhammad, stood in front of a gathering of mourners and vilified my brother David as a criminal who without the NOI would have been nothing more than a common criminal. When I saw this Blog… I smiled. “…Until there’s an arm’s length between them and it some of the people of paradise will act like the people of hell and thus they will enter it.”

  9. […] Abdur-Rahman Muhammad added an interesting post on N.O.I Minister Larry 4X Prescott (aka Akbar Muhammad), Convention Speaker For MANA, Pleads Guilty to Bank FraudHere’s a small excerptLarry Won’t Be Smiling Where He’s Going. Not Even the Mothership Can Save Him Now. 10. mrleexslave says:

Yes Bro. Min Akbar Muhammad broke the law and He is a man who will face his punishment, you as a Muslim should pray that Allah’s Light and Spirit dwells with Bro Akbar. You must want the Muslim community in AmeriKKKa to emulate “those real” Muslims in the Middle East that fight and kill one another IN THE NAME OF ALLAH.

  11. Hamid says:

    Bismillah,

Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn, from the evil of that which He has created, and from the evil of intense darkness, when it comes, and from the evil of those who cast (evil suggestions) in firm resolutions, and from the evil of the envier
when he envies. Holy Qur’an Al-Falaq: Surah 113

    ==================================

Mrleexslave.. Because Aboo’s spirit of Shaitan (astafirullah) you will not find him defending “those real” muslims because he is not connected to the muslim Umah. If you will notice, he does not reflect any study of Islam which produces a gracious approach to difference. His words and spirit do not reflect Islam and his comments do not refer to the words of Allah (Qur’an) for reference. His way is of the many Internet-Zionists who pretend to be muslims to sew dissension and mischief, ie; Sunni vs Shia, etc. Be careful not to take his bait from this miscreant.

    ————-
O you who believe, if an unrighteous man brings you news, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then be sorry for what you did. Holy Qur’an 49:6

  12. Ayyub Muhammad says:

Mrleexslave, Hamid I see there is no need for me to comment since both of you are handling this. All Praise Is Due To Allah.

  13. A Supporter of the NOI says:

The interesting thing is even when a member of the NOI is doing good, you all have nothing but negative stuff to say.

I am not in the NOI but I bear witness that they do more for uplifting people mentally and spiritually than all of you so-called orthodox arrogant followers of Al-Islam….you all don’t come to the hood and deal with the gangbangers and the prostitutes but Prophet Muhammad would! You all just want to sit around anr impress people with your arabic but you’re not reforming the dead masses!

Get off of your high horse, God is this man’s judge not YOU! I am in no way condoning his actions but dang man he has done ALOT of good. Matter of fact I don’t even know YOU or your works.

Try cleaning up your own faults before trying to point out someone else…I believe that is in your Quran.

Lastly, Minister Farrakhan is who I follow and I don’t wear a bowtie. Now what you have to say?

    • Yazid Abd Al-Shakur says:

I’m not sure where you are from but here in chicago we bothers and sisters who follow the sunnah of Allah’s last and greatest messenger,Muhammad Ibn Abdullah(sas) do plenty in our impovished communities. The Imam center,Masjid Al-Ishan and Masjid Umar just to name a few.On the contrary all I see of the n.o.i is the selling of papers and the charging of $100 to see the min.at their savior days.More to the point not only do alot of our brothers live in the hood the majority of the masjids are in the hood!. Now what are YOU doing to improve our condition?

      • All praises Due To Allah for doing your Duty My Brother. I am following in the footsteps of Jesus the Christ & Prophet Muhammad, May Allah’s peace and blessing be upon these Great Men of God, By doing the work of the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, as taught by the Hon .Minister Louis Farrakhan.
I have no quarrel with you My Brother, I refuse to fall in the trap as the Muslim in the East have by fighting a fellow Believer. You good and righteous Muslims think what you will about The Nation Of Islam, We are prepared to stand before Allah, and be judged by Him.
I hope and pray that God grants you strength and Wisdom, in your struggles to propagate the Faith and raise the condition of His People The Black Man and Woman of the world.

      • james muhammad says:

ASA,and so does the Nation stop will the slander I’m from Chicago,Many orthodox Muslims sound like self-rightous Christians, Know who you are!!! stop competing while our people are dying. We all have a part to play in this! ASA

  14. Ghazi Hamza Muhammad says:

    Bismillah,
Dear believers in Allah there is really no need to defend truth against shallow minded people like Aboo Abdillah U. The Holy Quran says “argue in the best of manners” obviously he never read the part. As a muslim I am always praying that ALLAH’s Mercy be upon His servants. None of us can judge, that rest solely with the LORD of THE WORLDS. We have all fallen short in our duty to ALLAH (SWT) and is in dire need of His Mercy and Protection. I pray that ALLAH will bless our brother to come through this trial with strength and TAQWA. May ALLAH bless those who are striving to be upright.

  15. VAI says:

I believe it is written in the Qur’an, if all of mankind was punished for their sins, there
would not be one soul left alive. Instead of having the enemy divide us according to
whether we are Sunni, Shi’i, members of the Nation of Islam, or what not, we should pray for the souls of everyone who have fallen from the glory of Allah. If the brother is guilty of what he has been charged with, it is obvious that he needs guidance and prayers. Bring the knowledge that Allah gave to us through Prophet Muhammed and Jesus to help the brother, not destroy him. Brotherhood and love is key, not hatred and division. MY LOVE GOES TO YOU ALL!PEACE!!!

    • True my Brother , True. Please forgive Me if it appears that I advocate the breaking of the Muslim Brotherhood. I truly believe where it says in the Holy Quran ” That Allah made Us into TRIBES and FAMILIES that We may know one another and Love one another.” The Muslim world marvels at the lack of hostility amongst Black people born in AmeriKKKa who have accepted Islam. For there is only ONE ISLAM.

      WE MUST FIRST BE BROTHERS!!!

  16. Hamza 21 says:

I think this topic brings another..how do Muslims who follow the Sunnah should interact with NOI members. Maybe you have already Abdur Rahman I haven’t read all your previous posts. How do you think we should engage the NOI? Shun them to they reform, offer dawah in same manner as to a non-muslim or something differently then a the two?.

One thing I will say is that I have dealt with NOI form Farrakhan’s group as form John Muhammad and I have never been disrepected anyone connected to those groups. as well as in world full of Isma’ili’s,Twevler Shiah,Ahamdis and others I don’t see why all hate for the NOI. It’s not as though these groups have any real power or in danger of taking over Islam. In the Quran it is stated there will be those whom Allah allows to go astray so the fact these groups exist doesn’t really bother me.There will always be groups such as these around in one fashion or another.

  17. It has been revealed recently that the FBI has recruited, and retained on their payroll, informants and provacatuers to purposefully sow disension and discord in the Muslim American communities.
This is the same tactic the US gov’t used with its CO-INTEL program, designed to destroy black organizations and leaders in the 1960s in particular. The role of the agent provacatuer was to stir up hatred, hostility and contempt against a group or indivisual to disrupt their effectiveness to organize.

Using the art of “dropping seeds” they fostered confusion & even went so far as to make up fake letter-head and mail insulting letters in the name of one organisation or leader to the other causing people to fight and sometimes kill one another.

Reflecting on that history and trying to understand what is the problem with Abdur Rahman Muhammad and his questionable behaviour I have a few questions.

    1. WHY IS ABDUR RAHMAN MUHAMMAD SO OBSESSED WITH BROTHER AKBAR MUHAMMAD?

    2. WAS THE TIMNG OF ABDUR RAHMAN’S UNISLAMIC BANTER AGAINST BRO. AKBAR MUHAMMAD AND IMAM SIRAJ WAHHAJ ONLY COINCIDENTAL WITH THE ORGANIZIATION OF MANA’S FIRST CONFERENCE?

    3. IS IT A GUINUINE DISAGREEMENT ON ABDUR RAHMAN’S PART OR IS IT AN ACT INSTIGATED BY A CHECK FROM THE US GOV’T SIGNED BY THE FBI?

    4. ABDUL RAHMAN WROTE THAT HE WENT TO HOWARD U. WITH BRO. AKBAR’S DAUGHTER WHICH MEANS HE IS AKBARS JUNIOUR ATLEAST BY A GENERATION. AGAIN WHAT IS ABDUR RAHMANS OBSESSION AND WHEN DID IT START?

    5. KEEP IN MIND AKBAR’S PUBLIC WORK STARTED 50YRS AGO UNDER MALCOLM X AS ABDUR RAHMAN WROTE.

    6. EXAMINE ABDUR RAHMAN’S REFERENCE TO IMAM JAMIL AL-AMIN AS A “COP KILLER”; WHO TALKS LIKE THAT BUT ANOTHER COP OR A PAID ENEMY?

    7. LASTLY, IN ALL THAT ABDUR RAHMAN WROTE-WHERE IS ISLAM?

EVEN IN WAR, ISLAM HAS ITS RULES OF ENGAGEMENT.

PERHAPS IF ABDUL RAHMAN IS BEING DIRECTED TO ACT SO UNISLAMICALLY, MAYBE HIS HANDLERS NEGLECTED TO TEACH HIM THAT ALLAH SAYS IN THE HOLY QUR’AN, “DO NOT ALLOW ENMITY OR HATRED AGAINST A PEOPLE CAUSE YOU TO ACT UNJUST TOWARD THEM.”

  18. Bro. Brian, you are throwing straight knock out blows against the enemy’s of Islam. You are opening up that can of worms called ‘CONITELPRO’. Any Black person of consciousness should know the after effects of this program. Most if not all pro Black groups of the Civil Rights era suffered from this evil. All I have to say is ” NEVER AGAIN ” . since We are all Muslims should We not administer Sharia Law, on such traitors against Islam?

  19. TRUTH BE TOLD 99% OF ALL MUSLIMS WHO HAPPEN TO BE BLACK OF ameriKKKan BIRTH OWE THEIR VERY EXISTENCE TO THE MOST HONORABLE ELIJAH MUHAMMAD, THE NATION OF ISLAM AND ALL THE HARD WORK OF BRO. MINISTER ABDUL AKBAR MUHAMMAD. YES HE HAS TO ANSWER FOR HIS ACTIONS, BUT I THOUGHT ‘ALLAH WAS THE BEST OF KNOWERS ‘?

I as a Muslim follower of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, under the leadership of the Honor Minister Louis Farrakhan, does not have any negative or unBrotherly thoughts or feeling against any of My Muslim family who chooses a different path.

  20. Dawud Adib says:

    The NOI is pure kufr

    sincerely,
    Aboo Tasneem

    PS: Where the women at?

    PPS: Dawud Adib-style!!!

    • ASA

      Bro. Dawud,
The issue here was never about matters of sound belief, it is about the disrespect of Islamic integrety in our communication and relationship to one another.

The personal attacks on Akbar Muhammad, Imam Siraj Wahhaj, the Hon. Min. Louis Farrakhan-who has been nothing but a friend and brother to Muslims all over the world- is not Islamic by anyones interpretation.

Allah is and Allah will remain The Best Knower in these areas of disagreement, but we the people have a responsibility to argue in the best of manner.

Going all the way back to Adam, it was Ibliss who lacked integrity in handling “his” view of Adam then using deception to justify “his” way and poor judgement.

Whether Abdur Rahman Muhammad is right or wrong, his spirit matches the spirit of Shaiytan and not the integrity exemplified by Allah through His prophets and messengers (PBUT).

My own sense of Islam is hoping that Abdur Rahman is only making a temporary error
in judgement and has not been turned out by the forces of the enemy to further divide the Muslim community.

But the timing of things poses some challenging questions about his actions and writings. Especially the organization of MANA and the implications of it for the strength of Islam in America, the increased FBI scrutiny of Akbar Muhammad and the repeat of history as revealed by the recent infiltration of Muslim organizations and Islamic Centers.
I want to think better of Abdur Rahman before I think the worse, but the climate of the times can’t be ignored. Just think about it.

      -Brian E. Muhammad

  21. Hamza 21 says:

    Mr. Lee X Slave said,

“TRUTH BE TOLD 99% OF ALL MUSLIMS WHO HAPPEN TO BE BLACK OF ameriKKKan BIRTH OWE THEIR VERY EXISTENCE TO THE MOST HONORABLE ELIJAH MUHAMMAD, THE NATION OF ISLAM AND ALL THE HARD WORK OF BRO. MINISTER ABDUL AKBAR MUHAMMAD.”

Well that sentiment is a statement of belief not fact. Similar to the Christian belief that Jesus was white. The fact is Shaykh Daoud Ahmad Faisal (rahimatullah) built the foundation of Sunni Islam in the US. Had it not been for his work Imam W D Mohammed (rahimatullah) most likely couldn’t move the NOI towards Ahl us Sunnah or at very likely would have been more difficult than it was.

  22. @ Brian E. Muhammad and Lee X Slave

So its all just the Big Boogy Man “Cointelpro” huh? What in God’s name does anything you’ve both written have to do with a man who represented himself as a moral leader and turned out to be a common criminal. Lets talk about the sum and substance of the post.

It is very easy to understand where I am coming from. I am completely sick and disgusted by the criminal antics of individuals who represent themselves as the best of the people, but are in fact the worst of the people. So I’m an F.B.I agent huh? Answer me this; why has Larry been sat down from the once powerful position he held as Minister Farrakhan’s right-hand man? Why is he roaming the streets from masjid to masjid like an elderly vagabond begging for money? Who is the one who destroyed his life-long career with the N.O.I? Was it Abdur-Rahman or Minister Farrakhan? Hey, maybe Farrakhan is getting a check from the F.B.I to destroy HIS LIFE LONG FRIEND AND ASSOCIATE. How about this one; maybe an F.B.I agent provocateur infiltrated Mosque # 7 in N.Y. and tricked Larry into defrauding all those banks. Yeah I bet that’s what happened. Then the agent told Minister Farrakhan that if he destroyed Larry he would receive a bonus on his next check. ENOUGH ALREADY with the conspiratorial madness!

Open your eyes guys, its all a big money making racket.

By the way, I am not the only one completely disillusioned by the criminals who’ve managed to pawn themselves off as leaders. Literally thousands of other Muslims are equally disgusted, and you trying to change the subject by bringing up Cointelpro (which was dismantled about 35 years ago by the Church Commisssion) will fail to convince those of us who are totally cynical.

  23. Your response answered none of the questions.

So you and “others” according to you are disillusioned with leadership. Where in the Holy Qur’an can you reference slander as the response to dissatisfaction?

Are you saying that Imam Sirraj Wahaj and Minster Farrakhan are criminals? For the sake of all who read your position, present your proof.

I agree we should talk about the sum and total of your post- That is why I spoke in my earlier coments about “Islamic integrety” and the fact that the Holy Qur’an speaks about “not allowing enmity and hatred against a people to cause you to act unjust toward them.”

My words in these postings are clear that I am not accusing you, I am questioning the timing and the foul and unIslamic way that you have chosen to conduct yourself concerning Akbar Muhammad, Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Min. Louis Farrakhan, and Imam Jamil Al-Amin.

Your own expression bears witness that there is a gap between how you chose to handle your grievance and the way Islam enjoins grievances to be handled.

Anyone looking at history understands the disruptive ways of the agent-unfortunately it is you who matches that discription in this whole matter. I prefer you to act like you have Islamic sense, be a brother and refrain from the hasty ways of Ibliss as I closed my last post saying, I hope that you are only suffering a temporary lapse in judgement and is not another example of one who has been turned out by the enemies of Islam.

I pray that you give up the emotion and ways of Ibliss and return to right character and consider the high moral standard of Allah, exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

    -Brian E. Muhammad

  26. @ Brian E Muhammad

What do you call “acting Islamic”? Protecting criminals AND THOSE WHO ABET THEM? And while I have never said that Siraj Wahhaj is a criminal, he does nevertheless aid and abet them by endorsing individuals that he knows full well are corrupt. Example, Khalid Yasin.

I have also strongly criticized him for muddying the doctrinal waters by inviting Larry 4X and others like him to share the stage with Muslim imams.

And to your point about timing, all I will say to that is its been long OVER DUE. These money grubbing, women chasing, fraud committing, corruption enabling leaders have been at it long enough. If what you call “Islamic Integrity ” means bullshitting people and concealing CRIME and HARMFUL DECEPTION, then call me a bad Muslim. I can live with that.

Just one question though; what is it about honesty and truth that you don’t understand? That’s what most people call “Real Integrity”.

    • First I must start with the words I ended with in my last post to you;

“I pray that you give up the emotion and ways of Ibliss and return to right character and consider the high moral standard of Allah, exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”

My point remains the same that excercising Islamic integrity is always required and you can’t take the law into your own hands and rewrite what Allah has already revealed unless you now ascribe to a earlier “people of the book” called Jews.

For example, if someone is guilty of a crime, it is unislamic for you to break the law of Islam and enter into corruption in the name of answering that person’s corruption.

“Money grubbing”, “women chasing”, “fraud committing” are all crimes by the standards of the faith.

Perhaps, calling people out of their name and slander as you have continued to do against Bro. Akbar Muhammad, Imam Siraj Wahhaj and Imam Jamil Al-Amin aren’t crimes in your mind but they are absolutely crimes in Allah’s eyes.

It appears your own “HARMFUL” SELF-DECEPTION has blinded you from seeing that you have chosen a criminal path yourself.

Unfortunately based on your own writings and opinions, you are past just being a “bad Muslim”, you fit the profile of one who is purposfully trying to cause disruption.

By the way, any word yet on you answering my intial questions?

      -Brian E. Muhammad

  28. THINK says:

    Greetings and Peace:

I am a Black-American who grew up as part of the post 1960s class of children whose parents struggled to reach and attain a place in the American middle-class. Still, while attending high school during the 1970s I was drawn to the NOI as a result of listening to tapes of Malcolm X in secret in the attic of my mother’s home.

I was drawn to the NOI, not so much because of its religious teachings, as I was because of its message of black social uplift. I left and cut myself off from any aspect of organized Islam during the 1980s because I was a college graduate and had grown tired of the “Muslim robots” who simply repeated (by rote in many cases) what “the Imam” said. I never step foot in the another masjid since then, though I admire Muslims who are educated and try to live descent lives.

Like all religious movements, the NOI had its problems with corrupt leadership and, of course, wayward (criminal) followers. Nevertheless, the organization did a great deal of good to help clean up a good number of black people whose lives required a different approach.

As far as Akbar Muhammad and Minister Louis Farrakhan are concerned: both of these men are not accountable, in any real sense, to black people and, of course, to the Muslim community. For one thing, far too much money has been raised under the entity known as the NOI for Akbar Muhammad to be reduced to silly mortgage schemes. A religious organization worth its organizational salt would have set up a retirement plan for Mr. Muhammad and, in fact, have a board where compensation, etc., is set. This is one of the reasons why officials of the NOI, as it exists today, cannot preach to black people about how to conduct their affairs.

As for Minister Farrakhan, he has been living high (like the royal Saudi family) on halal beef for so many years without viable questions being raised about his finances and those of the NOI that it is too late to raise these questions. Akbar Muhammad should not have been placed in a position to even contemplate these petty criminal schemes in the first place. His service dictated that the NOI provide a pension for him. Period. Why is a man travelling all over Africa visiting with African leaders (a good number of them currupt and bloodthirsty) who has failed, as the Muslims say, to tie his camel at home? Going to jail at 66 years of age on petty mortgage schemes?

As for the Black American Muslims: You brothers and sisters need to remember where you came from and the ordeal of your people in America. Adopting the religious ideas of foreign born Muslims is not the key to your salvation. If they (the religious and political leadership of the Musilim and Arab world) were practicing basic decency in the Arab world (especially the Saudis), why are so many Arabs and Muslims poor, uneducated, and clamoring for some modicum of justice, not to mention the ongoing second-class treatment of women to this day?

The Arab world is not in any position to preach to black folks. Not now. Not ever. Period. And I do not care which Muslims or Arabs are offended. Black people–which includes Muslims–need to arrive at a religious philosophy that allows for their freedom–not a slave game of Monopoly, where you travel from one’s master’s house to another.

Akbar Muhammad and Minister Louis Farrakahn merely illustrate the petty backstabbing politics and dictatorial regime politics of the black church—in this case the NOI—that is the hallmark of black preachers : do not challenge my authority.

I believe in what Khalil Gibran articulated: “Your everyday life is your religion.” It is for this reason why I will never join any movement where the kind of backwardness practiced by the NOI is taking place or the neo-darkness that masquerades as enlightenment practiced Muslims always pointing the finger at one moral infraction after another like children. As a result, I do the best by my fellow man or woman; however, I have no intention of walking around in a robe in Brooklyn, on a freezing day, barefoot with a pair of cheap sandals on. That’s the kind of Islam that the foreign born Muslims want black folks born in America to adopt.

Meanwhile, foreign Muslims buy up all the businesses in black neighborhoods while Black-American Muslims debate vague points concerning one hadith or another or the mythology of Fard and that sort of thing. The reality is black people need to believe in their ability to create a theology that works for them.

In other words, they, the blacks, have substituted one form of Christianity for another—one level of spookism, as it were, for another. You can keep it. T.D. Jakes and a good number of those fried chicken eating Christian preachers have more to show for what they are talking about than most of the Black-American Muslim community. New facilities. Television shows. Schools for children. You name it. Airplanes. A striving black middle-class.

Under no circumstances should Minister Farrakhan be allowed to live like a king without questions being raised by Muslims. But, alas, the NOI, is still an organization marred by childlike beliefs and personality worship—which means: most of its followers can starve to death and struggle to feed their families while Farrakhan and his family live like royalty. But, alas, is this “business model” any different than the one practiced by the late Yasser Arafat–whose wife was living in Paris in a hotel ($13,000 per day or so) while her people were living like animals or any of the Arab Imams who have mistresses (some of them European) and children all over the place? Hmm?

Corruption? Look at the Muslim world as a whole. The Saudi royal family is in bed with the west. They could buy the entire Black-American population with one day’s oil revenue. And the writer of this blog is concerned about Larry’s presence at a conference? Because of his religious idealogy? Larry, like a good number of black men, is merely trying to eat.

That’s the real issue—not Brother Larry. And I am not defending Larry at all.

Here is Larry—and Farrakhan—running their mouths about black folks need to do for self; yet, Brother Larry hired a Jewish lawyer to defend him? Are there no black lawyers capable of doing this?

  30. Louis A. DeCaro Jr. says:

Let us not forget that Akbar Muhammad personally made violent efforts to harm Malcolm X in 1964. Although he was not one of the Nation of Islam assassins who ultimately carried out that group’s murderous intention in February 1965, he did try to on behalf of Elijah Muhammad and his malevolent leadership. Malcolm X was correct that whatever promise of greatness existed in the Nation of Islam formerly, it was ruined by “bird-brained” and “criminal” people in leadership, people like this man. “By their fruits you shall know them.” In 100 years Elijah Muhammad will be remembered as an abusive cult leader who impregnated young women under his sway. Malcolm will be remembered as a leading human rights figure. Larry Akbar Muhammad won’t be remembered at all, except as one of the thugs who tried to kill Malcolm X.

    • Dear Mr. Louis ,
First if Min. Akbar did try and harm Min. Malcolm X, it is because He was trained by him to defend The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. According to you it is good that Malcolm left for he was extremely criminal. With whom did The Hon. Elijah Muhammad harm, yes on his path to Oneness with GOD he may have made a mistake or two, if you read the bible there are numerous examples of the Men of GOD, making mistakes. Lastly The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad will for ever be held in high esteem amongst the peoples of the world who brought a people up from the ignorancy imposed upon them from their oppressors, and a Man who refused to bow down to the weak and fearful People GOD sent Him to rescue. In your hate filled blog you mentioned ‘FRUIT’ The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad legacy in that regard is great and getting better everyday.

As much as I love Min Malcolm X, I am at lost to all if any of the ‘HUMANITARIAN’ work that he performed, unless you are refeering to all the work He did as a member of the Nation Of Islam?

Bro. Min. Akbar will be remember for His good works on behalf of the The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Black People of the world

  31. Mr. Decaro Jr.

Lets correct your misunderstanding of history and the roles of of the people you mentioned in your post.

    Mr. Decaro’s wrote:
“Let us not forget that Akbar Muhammad personally made violent efforts to harm Malcolm X in 1964. Although he was not one of the Nation of Islam assassins who ultimately carried out that group’s murderous intention in February 1965, he did try to on behalf of Elijah Muhammad and his malevolent leadership.”

    My Response:
I know Brother Akbar Personally he has spoken exstensively on that period of his life and the history of events in the Nation of Islam at that time and he never was part of any violent attempts on Malcolm X. There was an altercation where some of the Brothers who left the Mosque with Malcolm approached Bro. Akbar on a Queen’s NY street with a shot gun. But that was them and their aggression, not with Malcolm. We are taught to fight with those who fight with us and never be the aggressor.

    As far as not being “one of the Nation of Islam assassins who ultimately carried out that group’s murderous intention in February 1965”;
History bears witness that the Hon. Elijah Muhammad instructed his follwers to leave Malcolm alone and do no harm to him.
The Nation of Islam didn’t send assassins to do anything to Malcolm, it was already proven and exposed that Malcolm X was eleminated by the US govennment and paid agents. Both the NOI and Malcolm’s group were honey-combed with these government agents. The same tactics that is being used today among the Muslims in this country and potentially are the real handlers and backers of Abdur Rahman Muhammad and several others who possibly are on payroll to stir the Muslims into serious confusion.

    Mr. DeCaro said:
“In 100 years Elijah Muhammad will be remembered as an abusive cult leader who impregnated young women under his sway. Malcolm will be remembered as a leading human rights figure. Larry Akbar Muhammad won’t be remembered at all, except as one of the thugs who tried to kill Malcolm X.”

    My Response:
Allah has preserved the LIVING legacy of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad through the thousands of followers and students of his here in North America and through out the world who like him are leading lives of moral excellence and striving according to the dictate of our faith, Islam.
Malcolm will be remembered as a great leader and student of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad who was tested severely as a Muslim and a man. All that he would have contributed to our total liberation he recieved and was practicing his 12yrs in the NOI. Unfortunately the US Government stilled his voice before he became a “leading human rights figure”.

As for Brother Akbar Muhammad, Allah wastes not the reward of any doer of good. His record of good speaks for itself and there are many people that brother has brought to the faith of Islam. If he made an error, are you the judge or Allah the judge and is it we or Allah that holds the power to abrogate ones good deeds on account of a bad deed?
Bottom line, all of it is in Allah hands, and no ammount of agents and the machinations of the enemies of Islam will change this fact.

    • Louis A. DeCaro jr. says:

History does not bear witness that Elijah Muhammad had his followers leave Malcolm X alone. History bears witness that he ordered Malcolm’s murder and that it was carried out by members of the Nation of Islam after repeated attempts. History has already born witness against Elijah Muhammad. Of course, the judgment is history means little in comparison with the judgment of Almighty God. Given Elijah’s deliberate perversion of both the Bible and the Qur’an, he doesn’t stand a chance in the eschatological scenario of either religion. What is more pitiful is that a half century later, people are still dupes of that old man’s myths and deceptions.

  32. fahim knight says:

This response is typical American style igorance relative to the Nation of Islam. Sir, you are just spewing anti-Nation ofIslam propaganda. First, I am not an apologist for the Nation of Islam and Minister Farrakhan. But I will state Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam have the right to practice Islam as they see it; although, their theology may differ from so-called “mainstream Islam” what ever that means because Islam to my understanding is a very diverse religion.

You cited THE SO-CALLED NON-ACCEPTANCE OF NATION OF ISLAM LEADERS BY MECCA.Let me give you some brief history relative to Minister Malcolm X (EL-Hajj Malik Shabazz) and Minister Malcolm X’s so-called Orthodox Sunni Islamic conversion as some sought of standard bearer. Sir, let me give you some history and educate you on this subject.

Elijah Muhammad made Hajj in 1959 to Mecca and received a royal welcome from the Saudi Arabian Hajj committee. Elijah Muhammad taught Louis Farrakhan and the same theology that you are criticizing, was the theology that Elijah Muhammad taught and believed in when he made this so-called holy Pilgrimage to Mecca and circumambulated the Kaaba and touched and kissed the black stone that was put there by Prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael.

Minister Malcolm X was the one that set-up the Hajj trip for his teacher, Elijah Muhammad; interpreted to meaning Minister Malcolm X saw and witness Muslims in Egypt and other Islamic countries of all races and ethnic groups as early as 1959 (reference his book the Autobiography of Malcolm X).

In addition, to Elijah Muhammad making Hajj, two of his sons, the late Herbert Muhammad known as Jabir Muhammad and his late son Imam Warith Deen Mohammed (Leader of the Muslim American Mission) all made Hajj in 1959 adhering to the FIFTH PILLAR OF ISLAM. He went their as a Muslim and left there as a Muslim and continued to teach the Nation of Islam doctrine and Elijah Muhammad never submitted to Arabs (Sunni Islam) doctrine.

On March 8, 1964 Minister Malcolm X breaks with the Nation of Islam for perhaps out of more of a political disagreement rather than a theological disagreement as many have attempted to describe. Minister Malcolm X found two distinct organizations, the Muslim Mosque Incorporated and the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU), the former sacred and the latter secular.

Thus, as much as Minister Malcolm X made a public conversion to Orthodox Sunni Islam. He was deeply tied to Pan-Africanist/Nationalist Movement with his OAAU, which he modeled after the Organization of African Unity (OAU) that was very much engaged in the fight for African liberation in 1960’s against European imperialism. Let’s do the math Malcolm X joined the Nation of Islam in about 1951/1952 after being released from a Michigan State prison and he spent about twelve (12) years representing Elijah Muhammad and the Nation of Islam as their top level minister. He was assassinated on February 21, 1965; moreover, he was only out the Nation of Islam eleven (11) months before he was murdered. I do not think he had enough time to formulate a solid conversion to Sunni Islam as many maintained.

Now! what got Minister Malcolm X suspended from the Nation of Islam to my understanding and based on my research, was in 1962 President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and Elijah Muhammad gave all his Clerics strict orders not make any public comment relating to the assassination of President Kennedy.

Minister Malcolm delivered a speech that afternoon titled, “God’s Judgment on White America” and after the speech, a reporter asked Minister Malcolm X to comment on the assassination of Kennedy and in disobedient to his leader, Malcolm X said it was a classical case the “Chickens coming home to roost”. I AGREE WITH MALCOLM X ON THAT STATEMENT.

This disagreement (between Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam) arose out political dissension and not theological disagreement as you have ascertain. I do not talk about a subject unless I do the homework first and it is evident that you have not done your homework on this subject.

Let’s move on in 1986 Minister Louis Farrakhan and his entourage made Hajj to Mecca (and has made two additional Hajj trips to Mecca) and he to was received By King Fard and the Wahhabi leaders in Mecca as a Muslim brother to the Arabs. Farrakhan right after the Million Man March (1995) went back to Mecca and actually did three World Friendship Tours visiting Islamic Nations from around the world. He has always been well received throughout the Islamic world.

In fact Ayatollah Khomeini allowed Farrakhan to speak at the 17th year Commemoration Ceremony of the Iranian Revolution. He spoke to over five million Shia Muslims that gathered.

Farrakhan also built and financed the construction of Sunni Mosque in Gambia, West Africa named the Alex Haley Mosque (named for Alex Haley the author of “Roots” and assisted Minister Malcolm X in writing his autobiography).

You paint this false picture that Islam is a universal religion (free of racism and prejudice) perhaps in theory, but in practice Islam is a race, gender, and class divided religion.

I have seen light skinned Arab Muslims treat dark skinned Muslims (as Abu–servant and slave) and we do not have look too far. Right now in Darfur, Sudan, the Arab lineage Muslims is oppressing the dark skinned Muslims in southern Sudan, Africa.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH–570-632 AD) stated in Hadiths (recorded sayings) of Prophet Muhammad he stated, seeing Bilal Ibn Rabah, the Black Ethiopian and the first Islamic Caller (Muezzin) footsteps enter the gates of paradise before his very own.

I think both scholars Bukhari and Muslim record this testimony. I am not an Islamic Scholar I do not want to be one, but we should do our homework prior to presenting ourselves as authorities on such topic of Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan, Elijah Muhammad, Nation of Islam, Sunni Islam, etc. Thank you for your response but here are the reasons for my disagreement.

SYAY AWAKE UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,

  33. To Mr Louis A. DeCaro jr.;

History is only true if the individuals who is recording it are trust worthy. Question is Chief Geronimo a terrorist or a patriot ? Minister Malcolm X was surrounded by police and federal agents. Yes the3 Brothers convicted of murdering him were good upstanding Members of The Nation Of Islam. If these Men of God were guilty of killing Our Brother were they influenced, by the training that from received by Min. Malcolm X , on how to deal with Negro’s whom attacked The lamb Of God.

For an outsider it is easy to assume that the The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad ordered the disposal of one of His errant disciples. It is evident that you have never been apart of a Institution that relies on trust, honor and belief in God that you would rely on the very hateful people that did not and to this day do not love or care for as Bro. Ossie Newsom called him “Our shining Prince”.

History will tell you that The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad mourned and cried when the word came to him that Min Malcolm were assassinated propbaaly by the same Devils that murdered Dr. Martin Luther King.

I am a product of Min Malcolm X, I have talked walked and lived with Minister”s Malcolm’s contemporaries. No I am not blinded by My faith. However Minister Malcolm did say ‘, if a people will not treat you right , WILL THEY TEACH YOU RIGHT’

The powers that be of this Nation of Ours did not , and to this day do not love Bro. Minister Malcolm X. It is easy to promote a dead man than deal with a living person.
I am not trying to alter your views, however I will not let you are any other person defame the name and Legacy of the first real advocate of the BlackMan and Woman of AmeriKKKa.

  38. THINK says:

The average garden variety (or not so garden variety) Black-American would be better off joining a well run Christian church where the pastor (generally always male) is prophetic and, of course, accountable to the folks who attend his/her church. T.D. Jakes has more to show for his ministry (state-of-the art facilities. etc.) than the majority of black folks who converted to Islam and pursued spiritual esoterica.

The so-called Muslim community, in all its various belief systems, is completely lost and has no realistic relevance to the “black community” anymore. What is more: the people are well aware of this.

What happened to the businesses and the positive social controls that the NOI and later the American Muslim Mission, etc. created/promoted in black communities that gave black people some semblance of hope? They are gone. And now Negroes (some even sporting Muslim names) have made life unbearable in these communities while Farrakhan (and others unlike Farrakhan) run their mouths to no end. (They are living in mansions in well policed neighborhoods while the rest of us can barely walk the street in broad daylight.

Instead, the Muslim community has become “insular” and, thus, is not concerned about anyone unless they share their interpretation of Islam or, even worse, are walking the street with adorned in robes and sandals in the middle of winter. All Muslims around the world have their culture. Why do black folks have to leave their culture at the door?

The historical and contemporary bickering, not to mention the sordid details of Brother Akbar’s ordeal, is a clarion call for rationality or, at the very least, a good pair of running shoes. In short, one needs to get as far away from these folks as possible. Some people now think that the codeword for Muslim, in the Black-American context, is Negro. Or, in psychologial terms, “social retrogresisive metamorphasis.”

Religion is not just a spiritual matter. It is also linked to the social, political, and economic redemption of a people. Or it is useless. One need only look at other ethnic groups in this nation to see this. Study the Irish in New York and the Catholic Church. Look at the Jewish community.

The NOI leadership, from its inception, was never accountable to the followers and that’s been a constant through its evolution to the personality worship of Imam W. D. Mohammad. Personality worship is an abdication of critical thinking and, as a result, there is no healthy exchange between leadership and the people (which is called democracy) about ideas that one agrees with or takes issue with. You end up with robots always trying to curry favor with the leader, but unable to read a blueprint, and build something left to their own devices.

The history of the NOI, infiltrators not withstanding, shows there is no real basis for disagreement that does not, in a good number of cases, end in violence or being deemed a “disbeliever”—which is the Islamic equivalent of the Scarlett Letter. You tow the line or pay the price. It is just that simple. (Yes, this happens in other religions–which is why folks leave.)

The average Black-American male (with a job) can barely support a household with two children. Why, therefore, is black Muslim leadership (Farrakhan, Brother Akbar, and Imam Mohammad) practicing the idea of having multiple wives and scores of children and, in the process, reducing black Muslim women to ‘hijab culture”—seen but not heard—and deaf, dumb, and blind as if we are in the 14 century?

You have grown black men marrying their 16 year-old daughters to other grown black men, for example, who barely have any viable education and, would be fortunate to have a job at the Post Office. This is America. We are not born and raised in the backwaters of some undeveloped country. These women end up are at the mercy of their husbands and their abuse is also part of greater silence within the Muslim community.

How is any of this any different from the Negro culture (the worst aspects of it) that many of us who joined the NOI and Imam Mohammad were running at full speed from? It is basically the “repackaging” of the worst aspects of Black-American life.

While Muslims from the black community are sitting around splitting hairs over hadith and sunnah (nothing wrong with that if you have created an economy and can support the lifestyle of sufi mystics who require special purified water and the best organic food), the immigrant Muslims are taking advantage of opportunities in America and sending their children to be educated at the best schools and joining the upper middle-class and, in the process, leaving their black Muslim counterparts in the social dust.

Among an intelligent people, Farrakhan would have been held accountable for his role in the slaying of Malcolm X and for his luxurious lifestyle (and other things) at the people’s expense. But “black preachers,” no matter what their religion, are never held accountable by black folks. So, the idea that Brother Akbar is going to jail should not surprise anyone, nor the fact that he retained a white lawyer to cut a deal. (Were their no black lawyers who could represent him considering the “do-for-self” philosophy?)

Akbar was nothing more than a sycophant and when that status was no longer available, he was shown the door like Conrad Muhammad, nee Reverend Conrad Tilliard, who had to become Baptist preacher to earn a living. There is no reason after Brother Akbar’s many years of service and devotion to Farrakhan that he did not have a pension or more than enough money to retire in.

We have gone from Farrakhan to the “personality worship” of Imam W. D. Mohammed and, in the process, Muslims under the leadership of Imam W.D. Mohammed were unable to handle decentralized leadership and thus, were still acting like “color-by-number” children incapable of taking the Imam’s teachings and applying what made logical sense to the building of our communities wherever they resided.

Look at our communities from Los Angeles to New York—death, confusion, and destruction.

The so-called hog and/or fried chicken feet eating Christian preachers (caretakers of the proverbial Ice House) have more to show for their so-called backwardness than all of the Muslims (black) combined in America. And the so-called American Negro is well aware of this.

    • To Brother or Sister Think,

We the members of the Black community accept and relish Your ignorancy and hate, in keeping with the Divine teaching of Jesus The Christ. Where did all the Muslim convert come from, We were not Buddhist, nor were We Jewish, I have from reliable sources that 99.999% of Us have Our roots and foundations in one Christian denomination or several. I am not INTELLIGENT enough to get in an argument on which religion is best, I will leave that in the capable hand and minds of educated individual as yourself .

We in the Nation Of Islam thank GOD for Brothers like Bishop T D Jakes and Dr. Barbara King,We have evolved in the Spirit of Jesus The Christ in knowing when and how to accept the people GOD has put on this Earth, to achieve His Will and not he Will of Vain Glorious humans. We are no longer just trying to bring people to the Nation Of Islam, Our main and only goal is to bring people to GOD, even if that God is not GOD but His Son.

One question is this statement only germain to Islam or is it relevant to all ” Organized Religions’, ” The so-called Muslim community, in all its various belief systems, is completely lost. ” When I was a full time Christian { I am still a member of the Church I was Baptisted in 1976 @ the age of 14}, We never associated on a spiritual realm with others unless they were UCC.

I think I know where Your bitterness, fear and resentment comes from, You like a lot of Us in the Nation was let down when We realized that the Nation was not perfect . Yes it is The Perfect Program, however it is being work by imperfect people. We were raised by the Devil, as the Bible says ‘ We are raised in Sin and shaped in Inequity by an Iniquitous people.”

I do not have the time nor do I have the desire to challenge each and every one of Your baseless and weak attacks on the Holy Nation Of Islam. But I will put forth this task to You My Thinking Family Member, The Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan has not only challenged the Holy Nation Of Islam, and Black People in general He has also challenged the World with His Study Guides “SELF IMPROVEMENT THE BASIS FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.

Please do not take this as an attack on Yourself,I do not knowing know You, but the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad commands His Followers, to go out of of Way to Love Protect and Respect His people whether the want it or not.

Your common and rather fatalistic kneejerk reaction to what I wrote is not surprising. What I am saying is this: that the Muslim community (black folks) has to examine its own house. Period.

I am not Christian. On the other hand, I am not a blind follower of any leader or religion.

The criminality, spookism, ignorance, Three Card Monty spirtual games, and personality worship, having multiple wives, etc., within the Muslim community (black) has to be called into question if “freedom” and sanity is the ultimate goal of any sane Black-American Muslim.

Now, dear brother, if you do not believe what I wrote–well, take a look at black communites all across this nation. Take a look. No one takes the Muslims seriously anymore. They have lost their relevancy to black uplift. And this, more than anything else, was central to the idea of black folks converting from pie-in-the sky Christianity to Islam–or, indeed, what they understood to be Islam. (There are sincere people to be found in all religious expression.)

Now, you have Black-American Muslims walking around more “spaced out” than their Christian brothers waiting on motherships or suffering from sores on their hands from the overuse of thikr beads. The ones that are sane are basically alone.

If this is the case, why leave the Ice House (Christian church) (as it was once called) to undertake a religious theology that is now colder than a sub-zero refrigerator? My suggestion: order a nice sweater and watch the immigrant Muslims (and non-Muslims) surpass our people in every measurable indice for quantifiable progress in this nation.

Folks on the street (and far removed from the street) are tired of the rhetoric, the criminal leaders/ministers/imams and the lack of accountablity, and, furthermore, having nothing tangible to show for damn near 100 years of “divine teaching” in America.

I’m not giving T.D. Jakes a dime; but, at least he has state-of-the art facilities and tangible edifices for working and middle-class black folks.

  40. I am highly offended that you would think that I am a blind follower fo anyone or any thing, reread this statement’ ” I think I know where Your bitterness, fear and resentment comes from, You like a lot of Us in the Nation was let down when We realized that the Nation was not perfect . Yes it is The Perfect Program, however it is being work by imperfect people. We were raised by the Devil, as the Bible says ‘ We are raised in Sin and shaped in Inequity by an Iniquitous people.”

I am a member for Life in the Holy Nation Of Islam, but my participation leave a lot to be desired. Yes at one point The Nation was heavily populated wit Brothers wit criminal backgrounds, that is not the case today

You do have a point that the Nation is not as in your face as it once were, times have changed, We as black people think We are close to the promise land and The Nation has toned down the condemnation of the White man. Please remember that The Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan spearheaded the Million Man March, He and the Holy Nation Of Islam must have some connection with the Black Man and Black Woman of AmeriKKKa.

Bishops T D Jakes , Eddie Long and Creflo Dollar have truly been blessed by Allah, because they are working the program of the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, albeit under the guise of Christianity, if you know the Teaching You would be able to see that these Brothers are doing extremely well. Mosque Maryam is no slouch either, Our properties may not be as modern and large as these Brothers Houses of God are, nonetheless We are not envious or jealous at what these Men have accomplished. We are also in over 100 cities in AmeriKKKa, Mosque in Canada, Central and South America, the Caribbean, France and England.

I am a student of the truth please enlighten Me where I was fatalistic and knee jerkish. I am Your Brother I am not Your enemy, How can We You and I make a difference in the Lives of Black People?

    P.S.
The Nation Of Islam is not in the business of opening business or acquiring state of the art facilities. Our Mission Is To Help People Reach Their God Given Potential & Help Them With Their Relationship With The God Of The Universe.

  41. THINK says:

    Dear Mr. X Slave:

    Here is a new lesson:

Actual fact: How did the masjid/mosque become the Ice House?

Answer: By Muslims becoming reverse deaf, dumb, and blind.

There is a difference between a theological—indeed: ideological—wooden nickel and one made from cooper and silver.

People are imperfect and philosophies evolve; but, this is not what I am alluding to at all. There is a distinction between philosophical orientation and the BALANCED (I put that it capitol letters so you can understand me) empowerment of black people in real and quantifibale terms. In short, you are still talking about wooden nickels in a society that only recognizes nickels made from copper and silver.

You are absolutely deaf, dumb, and blind in reverse if you cannot see the disilluionment among Muslims, former Muslims, and even sympathizers as it relates to the NOI (in its present incarnation) and the role of Black-American Muslims in general who do not embrace the teachings of Farrakhan. The Muslim community is still mired in “central committee” groupthink spookism–that is: so-called followers who cannot take sensible concepts and use them to build something without getting permission like children.

If, as you say, that T.D. Jakes is running a basic NOI program, well, sir, that’s a greater indictment of the NOI and, furthermore, Black-American Muslims who, by now, should have owned swaths of urban property in major cities and been central, at the very least, to major development projects and the creation of business enterprises that pay good wages and contribute to the further civilization and social dignity of our people.

Now, the prevailing wisdom among elite Black-American Muslims is that black nationalism is dead. And yet in a pluralistic society (which is what America is), we see various ethic groups practicing nationalism as a by-product of group survival. Black folks are “internationalists” without portfolio.

Instead, we see the so-called “pork chop” eating preachers building state-of-the-art facilities while the NOI and Black-American Muslims are still operating out of storefront facilities and, in essence, have very little to show for their “profound teaching over the last 50 years.

(Harlem) is a prime example. Now, the white folks are developing property in Harlem and moving in–property that the Muslim community could have purchased 50 years ago for pennies on the dollar and owned half of Harlem by now. Let’s not talk about the rest of the country–where death and destruction are the interchangeable mottos for modern day black life.

We also see (and know about) people like Farrakhan living like a king and other imams abusing their leadership authority without any accountability and doing absolutely nothing to assist the people. In short, my dear brother, the Muslim community (black) is essentially lost in a theological conundrum–or, in many ways, is reenacting social slavery through ritualistic religious idealogy to resolve the burning identity crisis and beating–psychologically–that we have been subjected to up to the present moment in Obama’s America. The white folks and south of the Canadian border Dixiecrats are giving this man hell and, in essence, fueling what will certainly be a third Black Reconstruction or, if you will, “Who Needs The Negro?” tea parties all across America.

We have to get out share of America in order to be regarded as sane Americans.

Sensible people who see what is happening in America have to know that America (which is where I was born and raised) is falling. Minorities (meaning black folks and other folks who are not white or male) are catching hell in the current recession. As this economy retracts even further, what is the economic strategy of Black-American Muslims as a voice in terms of the social and political direction of this country and the communities they reside in?

But, it not just Farrakhan. There are Imams and followers of W.D. Mohammad’s community who have also abdicated a social uplift and the economic plan which was of profound interest to young blacks in the early days. The deeper Black Muslim brothers won’t even recognize your humanity as a fellow black person unless you are a Muslim. This is what all of this has come to. Yet, these people live in the middle of the black community.

Look at our communities! Travel around the nation. You can barely walk the street in the average black community. Our children are barely graduating from high school.

Instead, the emphasis, it seems to me, is to “out-Arab” the so-called immigrant Muslims and prove to them that we, the blacks, have a greater grasp of Islam than they do when, in fact, the reality–the stonecold sociological reality on the ground–is that they people see Black-American Muslims as straight-up beggars and fools. And, mind you, they are running from corrupt leadership in the Arab and Muslim world to begin with.
Aside from religious fellowship, who are they to tell us what to think and do. While we were straight-up slaves in America (picking cotton), did one Arab or African nation,
for that matter, send a team of crack commandos to help free us from chattel slavery?

These very immigrants, as they are called, arrive in the black community and provide services that Black Muslims and Christians should provide. They then turn around and send their children to the best colleges and universities in America from the business proceeds. They own stores, provide medical services, and other endeavors crucial to the black community.

Until the NOI leadership and the Black-American Muslim imam leadership and followers as a whole come to terms with these and others issues, no one is going to take the NOI or the black Muslim community seriously. The disaffection is there and has been for years and it is time for idealogical, organizational, and theological introspection.

This does not mean, at bottom, that I am joining the Christian church. No. Never. In fact, people are tired of these “living large” preachers.

It means that the Muslim community has lost credibility in the black community.
The basic life principles are laudable and great; however, as an organizational entity,
most black folks are finished with them.

People are tired of the “updated spookism,” being branded a traitor if you question leadership in a respectful manner, and years and years of just listening to great speeches without a manangement team to build. The only people who seem to be prospering, dear Brother X Slave, are the ministers and imams who want to make big money and be seen as big men. In short, the mosques and masjids have become “THE ICE HOUSE.” Now, that could be a title for a lecture: How Did The Masjid Become The Ice House?

  42. @ Think

Man, you nailed it on the head. The Black Muslim community is in a shambles and stands disgraced before the world. You know its funny, I thought we were going to change the world for the better, but look what all this crap has broken down into.

  43. THINK says:

    Dear Brother Abdur-Rahman Muhammad:

For a good number of us, dear brother, the Black Muslim Community was the last hope for our people at so many levels. The last hope. Even folks who did not intend to become practicing Muslims had an affinity for the teachings.

Look at the situation in Chicago where a young black high school student was beaten down and killed by other young black boys. This is plain and unadulterated savagery. The Klan did not kill as many of our people as we have.

How can the Muslim community (many of whom live in these very neighborhoods, came from them, or reside not too far from them) not have a social uplift program–a voice–in the midsts of this madness? That includes followers of Farrakhan, Imam W.D. Mohammed, and the brothers walking arounding their sunni garb and have failed, as men, to come together and make their communities safe?

  44. IBN ABDUL HAQQ says:

A.SA Think enjoyed most of your comments May Allah bless us to always use critical thinking. Abdur Rahman we may not always agree on matters of Aqeedah, but enjoy reading your blog

  45. Even though I dis agree with most of what You my Brothers are saying, My question is ” where do We go from here? You all were very vocal in your condemnations, let’s hear some solutions.

  46. THINK says:

    Dear Brother X Slave:

What I have articulated are issues that the NOI ministers and the Imams in the larger Black-American Muslim community need to address. You should print out my comments and read them aloud to the religious leadership. You recall the saying: “If the teachings don’t get you, the conditions will.”

Pay attention to the conditions on the ground. It makes no sense taking issue with Christian leadership in the Black-American community when the Muslim leadership, at bottom, no longer have a viable and practical “managerial solutions”–which means actually solving problems and creating better social, political, and economic circumstances for our people.

The Black-American Muslim community has become “anti-intellectual” and has now embarked upon an indentity crisis of its own which is still largely centered on personality worship and great man–since it is never a woman–leadership.

You hear, for example, these rappers talking about “cracking atoms.” They have no idea what this means. Let me tell you. Cracking atoms was, in essence, the intellectual equivalent of playing the dozens. Thirty-odd or more years ago, there were brothers and sisters who read widely so much so that their reading (on their own) would be equivalent to a reading list at a top flight American university. Some of these people, in those days, barely graduated from high school.

When Alex Haley writes about Malcolm X reading the dictionary from “aardvark to zygote,” well, this is really part of the cracking atoms process–the development of an extensivre vocabulary which, in turn, allows you to express yourself intelligently and read deeper books.

Now, you have brothers and sisters running around trying to master conspiracy theory books to the exclusion of history, social science, economics, current affairs, and the like. They are trying to figure out, for example, how to raise Hiram Abiff from a dead level to a living perpendicular. Well, it’s simple. Look at the immigrants who own damn near all of the businesses in the black community. That’s your answer. There is no need to bury the modern-day Hiram. The Muslims are looking for Hiram in the wrong place.

What I am outlining to you, dear brother, is something that you need to understand–we all need to understand: that America is changing. Who would have ever thought that the stock price of General Motors would have fallen to less than a vial of crack on any street corner in America? And while all of this is going on, for example, the Black-American Muslim leadership (and their followers) are essentially locked into a narrative that decries any real world semblance of on-the-ground economic mobility and, furthermore, standing up with other “sane” members (and leadership models) within the black community to fight crime, blight, and foster investment where the vast majority of us reside.

In short, the Black-American Muslim community needs to assess itself and stop worrying about the “kafirs” and the pork-chop eating preachers. These people have far more to show for their efforts than the Black-American Muslim community does at this point.

My total disillusionment with the Black-American Muslim community was exacerbated by the unending “taperecorder-like” worship of the leadership mainly among brothers and, furthermore, that if you raised any point of contention, well, you were branded a hypocrite and literally stoned.

Second, I was not interested in becoming an Arab or sufi mystic. Third, my wife was not going to be walking around behind me or pretending that she was not college educated and justify, in polite terms, the subjugation of women. And I was not asking to do any of this. She observed it and did not like it.

And finally, although I was born an American, I was not going to continue to embrace a relgious teaching that, in my view, had evolved (which was a great thing); but, finally, had gone overboard in what I regarded as “blind patroitism.” Mind you, dear, brother, I have never been in jail, overpay my taxes, and live a fairly clean life.

One other thing, I remember in the old days that people were put out of the temple, as it was called then, for moral infractions–fornication, etc. They were in what was called “bad standing.” Yet we learn that the leadership has its own way of doing things–things that many of us wre punished for.

The evolution of democracy in this nation is largely contigent on the agitation of Black-Americans who, through the generations, have forced this nation to live up to its principles. But this cannot be confused–as it has been–with the election of Barack Obama.

Black nationalism–in all of its incarnations–has its limitations and, of course, this is true of all nationalisms. However, Black-Americans need a base–a socio-political-economic sense of themselves that allows them to organize around central issues that impact our lives regardless of religion. This is not the “hate whitey” game. That’s not what I am talking about.

Right now, if more whites move into black neighborhoods (by way of gentrification), two things will happen: the crime rate will go down, and the business life of the community will improve. If the Klan shows up, this would also drive down the murder rate–since they kill “less” black folks that black folks do these days. (We can kill each other with impunity in the same community and it is another day at the ranch).

The social uplift ideas and teachings of the Black-American Muslims was of tremendous interest to folks within the black community–whether they became card carrying Muslims or not. This has been gutted from within. The stores–and there were plenty of them–are now gone. The talk about economic development within the Black-American Muslim community has been reduced to Sunday afternoon preaching–a lot of meaningless screaming and hollering. Why?

These streetcorner and dime-a-dozen ministers and imams lack the knowledge and sophistication to lead the Black-American Muslim community at a time of crisis in this nation and around the world. These are not leaders who can meet the challenges of the modern world.

  47. THINK says:

    Mr. X Slave:

You remember the old television program back in the early 1970s–“Gilligan’s Island?” A number of white folks from various social strata were shipwrecked on an Island. They had to deal with their differences and learn/create a technology for survival.

Well, dear brother, let’s assume that we are all trapped on “So-Called Negro Island,”which was recently renamed “I Am Trying To Be A Negro As Fast As I Can Island,” right?

You have to assess the situation immediately and then go to work. The longer we take to take strategic ACTION, well, the less our chances for survival, let alone recovery to real normal and dignified life.

We know the work that needs to be done. We all know this. But, we have to come together, despite our differences, to get the vital work of rebuilding our communities.

We will sit here another 50 years splitting the difference over who is practicing Islam according to the hadith and sunnah or who has the finest oil on their red-dyed beard or custom made robes and imported sandals. Meanwhile, the neighborhoods that we live in are more dangerous than Iraq!

  48. IBN ABDUL HAQQ says:

Brother Think one can always use far out examples, but for those of us who are Muslim The Hadiths and Sunnah are important. I Understand your experiences with Islam was traumatic but for Millions of us in the U.S.A it is a Blessing of the highest order.

P.S. I Earned the right to feel this way being a veteran of two wars. While tramping through swamps in Southeast Asia and tramping through the Red Clay in Georgia fighting with the Kluers over family Land

  49. @ Ibn Abdul Haqq

    Love you brother

  50. THINK says:

    Dear Brother Abdul-Haqq:

My experience trying to be a dignified black man in America was–and remains–traumatic. It has nothing to do with Islam in America.

I do not think I am using far out examples at all, nor am I demoinizing hadith or sunnah. Period. That’s an implied and outlandish contention.

I am simply outlining the on-the-ground-reality of our people in this country and, more imporantly, where I live. That’s all. And I am glad that I was able to communicate my thoughts after all of these years.

We are all, in the end, veterans of one war or another–the most paramount of which is to be better human beings within the context of our situation in America which, I might add, is no picnic. (I’m not, for the record, trading places with most of our African brothers and sisters either, who, in many cases, are dealing with madmen leading their nations.) I pray for them daily. Colonialism exacerbated by corrupt “Swiss bank socialism” African leaders is hard to deal with.

I do not subscribe, at this hour, to any ritualistic notion of religion–which is to say: I believe, as Kahlil Gibran indicated, that “your everyday life is your religion”–what, in essence, you do, and, at bottom, how you raise your family, treat your felllow man, and build your community and nation.

There are aspects of the old NOI and the community under the late Imam W.D. Moihammed that I certainly appreciate; but, I would never again join any organized community of religious believers.

As far as I am concerned, there are far too many Muslims (Black-Americans) who fought in far too many wars, as you put it, and still fail to understand that we have to fight a larger battle–the ongoing need to dignify our folks in this country (America). The Black-American Muslim community is not living in isolation. And this requires a great deal of thinking and the ability to take off the blinders.

I was never a church goer to begin with. I came to the late NOI mainly because of the political and social uplift message and evolved accordingly when Imam Mohammed assumed leadership. I took issue with the “robot” mentality among far too many brothers and, furthermore, the idea that non ” royal-family” folks” (the believers as they were called) had not right to express their opinion.

The Black-American Muslims have to follow their religion in accordance with Universal Islam. That’s great and understandable; but, when I cannot walk outside my door at night in a black neighborhood or when I see savagery and lack of civilization raised to an art form in black communities (where a good number of Black-American Muslims live) and see, at bottom, a disconnect from addressing these conditions from the very people who should be addressing them, I think we are confusing the larger dynamic of religion–which is to give and sanctify and purify life. It is not, to my way of thinking, narcissistic religious escapism.

The good people, who are the majority in black communities, are held captive to the ignorance of a few internally and systematized lack of economic, educational, and social development from external forces. If the Muslim community does not represent the last hope, in practical terms, who does? But, this realization requires deep dialogue and a reality check among the Muslims. Why? They have become part of the problem–the social and moral corruption.

And, if dear, brother, you think that our people are not becoming increasingly isolated, I suggest that you read the newspapers around the country a great deal more. For me, the greatest blessing is not to believe in fairy tales. America, comparitvely speaking, is a great country. It is also a country that has done a lot of dirt here and abroad.

In short, I’ve fought to maintain my dignity as a Black-American man right inside this nation–and am not sure if I would walk across the street to defend this nation let alone in Asia–and just believe, to be honest, that the Black-American Muslims have failed our people in contemporary America. Period.

So, if you engage in a bit of gumshoe empiricism–which goes far beyond the notion of “trauma”–either the logical and sensible ideas of W.D. Mohammed, related to social and economic development of our people vis-a-vis logical human development were destroyed through an updated COINTELPRO program–cultural, idealogical, or religious, etc.–or the Black-American Muslims ended up with a disproportionate amount or prayer rugs, religious rituals, and not much else. There has to be an explaination.

Why? Even with the blessing of Islam, as you so rightly and eloquently put it, Black-Americans (which includes those in the Muslim community, some of whom have become reverse “closet Negroes) are still “trying” to come to terms with the psychic beating (ongoing I might add) that Black-Americans have been subjected to in America– an observation and characterization that goes far beyond the cliche of “victimization” and, in the process, requires an systematic examination of the social psychology of our people who, by the way, have had more great leaders rise from among them than you can count (including Imam W.D. Mohammed), and still, in circa 2009, are incapable of working together, building their communities, and raising their children–look at the fragmentation of the contemporary black family!–in such a way that we–as Black-American Muslims, Chrisitians, Jews, etc.– are part of the social fabric of this country (America) as power brokers and a group to be reckoned with.

  51. To Think,

Every Sunday, The Holy Nation Of Islam broadcast live lectures from Mosque Maryam , I do not recall one speech condemning what so-called sect of Islam, they adhere to or whether they are Christian. Has Islam failed, NO We need to to a better job in representing what We feel is the word of God to the people.

“SELF IMPROVEMENT THE BASIS FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT” Have any of You My highly intelligent Black family ever read this? If so what do you think? I know you Brothers will find some way to tear it apart for You can address the problems We suffer from, Yet you have not uttered one word in what We as a whole can do are “What You As A Enlightened Child Of GOD Are Doing.’

  52. THINK says:

    Dear Brother X Slave:

I would like for you to know, dear brother, that I was happy to hear that Minister Farrakhan and Reverend Jackson spoke at the funeral for the young brother ( high school student) who was beaten to death “neo-Klan” style by a group of obviously deranged black youngsters who, these days, also use camera phones to record lewdness and contemporary madness–violence, group sex, and whatever they think is in vogue along a continum of American immorality–in Chicago. There are quite a few of these brothers whose names we never read about.

A public intiative should be announced by the Black-American Muslim community to work with other progressive leadership with the black community to deal with black-on-black violence. Patrols, workshops, community lectures, and other means shoulf be undertaken. This is a major issue and has national implications.

I have been listening to Minister Farrakhan for over 35 years. So, I am well aware of his speeches and thoughts.

I am saying that the Black-American Muslim community needs to have an “internal discussion” about where it is going and what it needs to do as it relates to structural issues impacting black life–indeed American–across the board.

Right now, as far as I can see, they are not doing what they need to so in terms of the larger structural upliftment of black folks within black communities across the board. In other words, all the saber rattling and the “Muslims-know-best” sense of superiority has to be addressed for the common good of our people.

Solutions? Brother: men and women far more erudite and intelligent than I am have outlined all of this generation after generation and the American Negro, in all of his/her incarnations, like a bad psycho-social cancer, just does not seem to get these basic lessons.

We still cannot work together as a people even with the blessing of Islam. Look at the battles Imam W.D Mohammed had to fight for much of his life trying to address folks under his leadership who still did not grasp the importance of his social and economic programs and, instead, throught it was better to walk around in robes and dresses.

I heard a white commentator say this morning on the television program THIS WEEK that “America is no longer a superpower.” That’s a hell of a statement and should, at bottom, be cause for alarm among a people who have been historically expendable no matter what their religious affiliation happens to be in America.

If the men within the Black-American community cannot stand up and make an attempt to curb the senseless violence where we live, well, we might be extinct in the next 100 years.

We have to go back to basics: education, industrial training, business development, family formation, and how to eat to live.

    That’s it.

The current president (President Obama) is catching hell and, in fact, black folks as a whole will catch ancillary hell as these people rise up to curtail him–meaning: the blacks.

The backlash is already in the works. Sometimes, it is better to hold the position of advisor to Caesar than to become Caesar. Certain Ethnic groups in this country have played this political hand quite well.

Of course, the larger rhetoric of the 1960s is no longer applicable given a number of variables in American life–but, we do need to take what worked from that period and the ensuing years and take one last stand in America in terms of making our individual and collective lives better.

Ghandi indicated that the creater comes to a hungry man in the form of a loaf of bread.

Unemployment, under-employment, struggle, and lack of resources is not new to the Black-American community. But, as this nation undergoes major change, it seems to me that the Black-American Muslim community should join hands with other groups for the improvement of life circumstances on the ground and not make the mistake of the 1960s and sit on the sidelines while the preachers undertake work that lead to real structural changes in the black community and America as whole. Read Martin Luther King’s Speech: ” A Knock Before Midnight.” He lays out a critique of complacent religious leadership.

I wish you peace, brotherly love, and prosperity.

  53. IBN ABDUL HAQQ says:

A.S.A Brother Think enjoyed reading you reply,if I had it to do over again S.E. Asia would not have been my jump off point. If you read my post you would also seen the clashes we had with the kluxers. One thing Nam taught me was that many a vocal warrior cries like a baby in the trenches(dont get sensitive on me Im not talking about you). My point is that many loud voices don’t have the stones to do what needs to be done.

Many times the empty wagon makes the most noise. The Prophet(S.A.W) was once asked why did evil grow he replied because the good men let it. To you young Lions I like your spirit, prepare to wage physical War against even our own who would destroy our youth. You may think Im the crazy Uncle in the attic, but the real slave master is not moved by right or morality

  54. Mark says:

It’s amazing how ignorant in 2010, some of you are. You make mockery of the teachings of Elijah Muhammad as incredulous, but you believe the equally absurd and perhaps more so, stories of the Qur’an and Bible. Although, I do not follow the teachings of Mr. Muhammad, but I certainly recognize that the vast majority of you so-called orthodox muslim would know nothing of Islam if were not for the teachings of Elijah Muhammad and the representation of Min. Farrakhan.

Mr. Muhammad, Min. Akbar and/or Min. Farrakhan are not perfect as is none of us. We are all striving to do better. Despite the faults of Mr. Muhammad, he has done more to awaken our conciousness than any of us on this website.

For you Qur’an quoting, slipper wearing, runninng around with a scab on your forehead, so-called Muslim authorities on who is a real muslim, wake the heck up. If you all want live so devoutly and pious in your observances to Islam, take your behinds to Saudi Arabia to live.

I can only hope that one day aboriginal people will wake up and realize that organized religion has done nothing throughout the world, but enslaved us both mentally and physically. You are still knocking your heads on the ground looking for a mystery God. In the words of I think of either Elijah Muhammad or Master Fard Muhammad, “Accept Your Own and Be Your SELF!

    WAKE UP!

  55. salim abdul-haqq says:

the person on this blog isnot helping the situation of “muslims” with differennt understandings, by criticizing other “muslims” so harshly, i mean calling “those people with a scab on their forehead” you really need to check out your mentality, it seems that people of the muslim faith should have the understanding of not to divide but to bring together maybe everyone think they are practing Islam the right way, I don’t think it does anyone any good to criticize so harshly, I think trying to bring muslims together is more beneficial than devisiveness. Yes I am muslim, no label. If you think you’re muslim that’s a good starting point

  56. Hajji Muhammad says:

How insidious, vile, and elusive is the group which for eighty years (80) has used the terms, Muslim, Islam, etc. while committing such heinous crimes as drowning babies in sinks, shooting defenseless women and young children in their heads, with their hands tied behind their backs, and when questioned by one of their own saying, “I didn’t sign up for this, was told in an angry voice, the Messenger said kill the seed of the hypocrite too.”
The list goes on and on, and these insignificant commentators and self righteous purveyors of sanctimonious adulation continue tripping. The blood of all the victims and martyrs are on the heads of those who carry the name, so stop blaming the “ghosts” Cointelpro, the white man didn’t do these crimes, ask Hayer, and ask Professor Manning who interviewed Thomas Johnson for three and one half hours in which he (Johnson) admitted in his arrogance, yea I hated Malcolm, even went to Philly to hit him? And these are the one’s who speak about righteousness?

  58. The Artiium says:

WOW, here’s another Muslim saying who is and who isn’t a “real” Muslim, i thought it was what we DID and not what we SAY that would qualify who was doing the deeds of Prophet Muhammad (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I will not argue with anyone whether I’m a Muslim or not because I decided to join the N.O.I all I know is they are the ones calling out the wicked of this world. Its funny how the Orthodox Muslims over here are seeking acceptance into this American society, who among them are calling the Jews out for their wicked ways, or this American Government. Only leader I see is Farrakhan, they can say what they want but NOBODY has stepped to the plate to debate this man on his truth!

  59. Mars Blackman says:

    4. The Women (Al-Nisa)

92 And a believer would not kill a believer except by mistake. And he who kills a believer by mistake should free a believing slave, and blood-money should be paid to his people unless they remit it as alms. But if he be from a tribe hostile to you and he is a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (suffices) And if he be from a tribe between whom and you there is a covenant, the blood-money should be paid to his people along with the freeing of a believing slave but he who has nor the means should fast for two months successively: a penance from Allah. And Allah is ever Knowing, Wise.
93 And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is hell, abiding therein: and Allah is wroth with him and He has cursed him and prepared for him a grievous chastisement.
94 O you who believe, when you go forth (to fight) in Allah’s way, make investigation, and say not to any one who offers you salutation, Thou art not a believer, seeking the good of this worlds life. But with Allah there are abundant gains. You too were such before, then Allah conferred a benefit on you; so make investigation. Surely Allah is ever Aware of what you do.

    49. The Apartments (Al-Hujurat)

6 O you who believe, if an unrighteous man brings you news, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then be sorry for what you did.

12 O you who believe, avoid most of suspicion, for surely suspicion in some cases is sin and spy not nor let some of you backbite others. Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You abhor it! And keep your duty to Allah, surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.

When we attack other Muslims (who are doing a good work) openly like this we serve to further divide and destroy the whole Ummah which is already in extreme deviation from where the Holy Prophet(PBUH) wanted us to be. This type of discourse and backbiting makes you complicit with the Shaytan and the enemies of Islam. In a time when Islam is being malign as religion of hatred, misogyny, terrorism, etc. I think our time is better spent working together trying to paint a proper picture of Islam. If you don’t like The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and/or Bro. Minister Akbar Muhammad then maybe instead of posting venomous blogs against them, maybe you all should be out in the streets, projects, prisons, schools, etc. presenting Islam as you see fit. N.O.I. is working. What about you?

As a final word to the author of this, shame on you sir for posting such a divisive, irresponsible piece of garbage. You and no one else is in a position to point the finger of heresy or call anyone a criminal. Perhaps you are working directly with the enemies of Islam. This garbage is the exact opposite of the true spirit of Islam.

May Allah(SWT) have mercy on us all for our collective shortcomings.

salaam, I thought Minister Akbar muhammed is the last born of the honerable Elijah muhammed and his first wife imam wd muhammed ‘s mother.because when google elaja children he appear to be one of them unless this another Akbar muhammed. Even imam wd in one of his speech while he was addressing imam siraj departing from his ministry he a little about his younger brother Akbar muhammed. If I google Elajah Muhammed ‘s biological children minister Akbar Muhammed appears to be one of them.
But on other articles he appears to be larry who joined nation of islam in 1960s.

  62. Nice article, Larry 4X Prescott kept bouncing between the NOI and Imam WD Muhammad’s movement for years. Just another example of the ‘racket’ like nature of such movements.
