Farewell Michael Jackson. The King of Pop and a Very Troubled Man, Dead At 50.

I’m still absorbing this. Please share your reflections. This man was deeply, deeply troubled, and many people who knew him said they saw it coming for years. I’m not going to remember the grotesque shell of a person he became, but rather as the young, talented boy who entertained us so. Micheal Jackson is dead at the age of 50. Farewell Michael.

    A definite shocker! To die at such an earlier age than when most others die and from heart attack too. This event indeed brings clarity and understanding to the prophet’s statement

    “Death is closer to us than our own sandals.”.

    Whether Michael was a Muslim or not is an open question but his brother Jermaine as well as other Jackson family members are within our ummah and we should make dua for him and his family from being overwhelmed with grief at this time.

    Ahh…so many thoughts spinning around about this. {sigh}

    I was starting college when MTV first got big. I remember their general refusal to play videos by Black artists. I also recall hearing that David Bowie had threatened to have his videos pulled from the station unless they started playing more videos by Black artists. [Mr. Bowie was big around that time with major hits like “Let’s Dance” and “Blue Jean.”]

    When MTV did play the “Thriller” video, many of the Black students in my dorm (which was coed–guys in one wing and young women in another) would often perform the dance steps along with the video. *Smile*

    Mostly, I recall being saddened by Michael Jackson’s descent into sickness and possible depravity. He was a poster child for the evils of pushing children into showbiz. It’s one thing to choose that life as an adult. It’s something else to have one’s childhood stolen as a result of other people’s choices.

    It was also quite apparent that very few (if any) of the people around him actually cared about him. Somebody should have at least tried an intervention with him about many issues: Including his behaviors that tracked those of known pedophiles—such as “grooming” potential victims with material goodies and other bribes. But I suppose that these people were too busy making money by being hangers-on.

    All in all, a sad ending to a sad life. {sigh}

    Wa Salaam.

    All the views that you have of Michael i can tell all came from the gutter press who had an agenda.

    He was not a shell of a person i saw what he was planning with his concert it was marvelous still had some left in him 🙂

    ” Including his behaviors that tracked those of known pedophiles—such as “grooming” potential victims with material goodies and other bribes”

    I don’t know where you got your information from but they did numerous checks on Jackson to analyze his behavior and mindset the results were the same “Had nothing in common with a pedophile”

    “More of a regressed 10 year old”
