My Appearance on WPFW on Manning Marable’s Malcolm X

We had a lively and I believe informative discussion.  This was the Jazz and Justice show hosted by Tom Porter.

  1. J. McCall says:

Thank you for for your contribution to the discussion.

The news that Malcolm may have dabbled in prostitution shouldn’t shock anyone who read his autobiography, which, after all, portrayed him as a pimp. Does anyone really think that the first profession is somehow nobler than the second?

Anyone who accuses Marable of subverting Malcolm’s legacy this way is almost certainly approaching the topics of race, sexual exploitation, and human sexuality from a biased, outdated perspective.

  2. Sista Miriam Refuge says:

    Salaam alaikum Brother Abdur-Rahman,

Will you be conducting any more reports on the state of the black muslim community at this time in relation to immigrant Muslims?

Also you spoke about having a meeting this summer. What is the status or outcome of the meeting?

Finally, for those of who want to practice what masjids do you believe are safe places to be?
